Too hot for a sweater? Too cold for that drop of sweat? Jacket or T-shirt? Quilt or fan? While you were debating all these spring dilemmas, TimesCity decided to explore a restaurant that has been designed just for this kind of weather – The Ancient Bar-be-que (TAB) and enjoyed the experience thoroughly.
Situated in Noida, competing against peers such as Barbeque Nation and The Kebab Factory, TAB has managed to combine the ancient with the contemporary with their concept of live grill and buffet. There’s an open kitchen set-up and the menu transcends the traditional Indian cuisines to include various genres like Oriental, Continental and Mexican. General manager of TAB, Bhawani Trivedi assured us that the restaurant will be starting to serve liquor very soon.
Ambiance
The castle-themed interior along with the melancholic “main zindagi ka saath nibhaata chala gaya” playing in the background, gives the feel of an ancient chateau. The interiors are very simple yet elegant, with nice candle style chandeliers and some ancient décor pieces. The most fascinating fact about the place is the wall dedicated to feedback from their customers.
Barbeques are placed on each table and are meant for customers to grill their meat. There are unlimited starters and a buffet spread complete with dessert.
The Starters
The menu comprises of a very long list of succulent and juicy starters including the very moist Patrani Macchi Tikka, the Awadhi Gosht Seekh and the Tangy Pai Pai Prawns. The chef also sent out his special – Chilli Chicken.
The vegetarians ought to try the Cinnamon Grilled Pineapple, the Dry Manchurian and the perfectly-cooked Salsa Potatoes.
Various marinating oils – thyme, lemon butter and mint vinegar – enhance the flavors of the food.
Main Course
The non-vegetarians should definitely try their Awadhi Chicken Biryani, Patiyala Murg and Fish in Black Bean Sauce.
For vegetarians, the Malai Pulao and Pataka Pao are must tries.
They have a big dessert spread which includes unusual items like Beetroot Ka Halwa, Mud Cake and Fresh Fruit Gateaux.
