Indigo Live, Koramangala: First Look

Indigo Live

A first-of-its-kind music bar in Bangalore, Indigo Live promises to be dedicated to different genres in the Live format. The city formerly known for its rock music has never seen a music bar without a cover charge, especially one hosting top EDM and electro rock acts, so this collaboration between Radio Indigo and Koramangala Lounge and Hotels understandably has us overjoyed!

Ambience

Built over two levels, the music bar on the lower floor comes kitted with L-Acoustics speakers from France and a 3D projection mapping installation that displays visuals during performances. Artists Sickboy and Ben Allen from the UK have used graffiti art on the walls, while glass pillars stuffed with cassette tapes (many of them belonging to Sanjay Prabhu, COO of Radio Indigo) are a stand-out feature. The washroom walls too are splashed with album art and magazine illustrations! As a bonus, the upper deck has a big screen, an aerial view as well as a casual dining space with gramophone records in glass table tops.

We visited on a gig night to experience the spot as it’s supposed to be and were told August has an enticing line-up of artists like the Srinjay Banerjee Trio and Ganesh Talkies. The dance floor with LED lights moves across faces, walls and bar counters; while the projector syncs visuals and live performance videos with the music.

Food + Drinks
Even though music is the ultimate food, we still needed to eat and the Pork Belly with Shichimi powder (Shichimi flavoured braised pork, green apple and daikon salad) was excellent. Executive Chef Altaf suggested the Pineapple and Vanilla Mojito (rum, fresh pineapple, vanilla syrup, lime wedges, fresh mint and sugar) to go with our order, which hit the right spot. The bar menu, priced from Rs 200-Rs 4000, serves up everything from shooters to cocktails, imported wines, sake and more.

For mains, go for the Wok Seared Beef Steak with Udon Noodles (ginger and sesame marinated steak, baby pak choi and udon noodles) followed with desserts designed by Director of Operations, Vibhuti Bane such as the Baked Yoghurt with Organic Honey Berry Nage and Granola Bar (yoghurt custard with thick honey and berry crush served with a granola bar).

In a nutshell:

TimesCity Verdict: A music centric bar designed for pub hoppers and foodies alike.
